There are a large number of taxi companies in Stockholm to choose from, but those that are approved and that have metered fares have yellow number plates. How much a taxi will cost you obviously depends on the length of your journey, and the time of day. Having said that, it shouldn’t cost more than SEK 300 for a journey of 10 km – have a look for the word jämfrpris on the information label.
If you are thinking about taking a taxi to or from the airport, the majority of taxi firms charge between SEK 450 – 500 to Arlanda; ask the driver before you get in to make sure. If you are reluctant to carry cash, don’t worry – card payments are readily accepted.
Eco-vehicles are being promoted in Stockholm and there is a rota in place that gives priority to taxis that have low carbon emissions, which has led to many of the larger companies fulfilling this criterion.
