If culture and history are your thing, then Farmleigh House is the perfect place for you to visit. In the north-west area of the massive Phoenix Park, you’ll find the house just adjacent to Castlenook and Chapelizod. It’s really accessible and even if you can’t find it, locals will easily be able to direct you to the area.
The area covers a huge 29 acres of land, and the house itself is an incredible example of Georgian/Victorian architecture. You’ll be astounded by the beauty of this place the moment that you get there. In its gardens, you will also find the famous clock tower.
The gardens also feature a ‘sunken garden’, a walled garden and a beautiful lake that is great to picnic by.
Public tours are available between Thursday and Sunday (including bank holidays), as long as the house is not being used by the government, which is a somewhat regular occurrence. A wide range of cultural events are held at the venue each year, too, meaning that you’ll have chance to experience Dublin culture in one of the most beautiful settings.
