The London buses, also known as Routemasters, are absolutely iconic. Everybody knows what they look like – double deckers covered in red. The buses are absolutely fantastic in London. They run incredibly often and late into the night, making it incredibly easy to get around at all times.
Furthermore, many new Routemasters are used as tour buses, too, which means you’ll no doubt be able to arrange tours via public transport. For a long while, Routemasters were not available in London, as they were replaced by bendy buses. Recently, however, new Routemasters have taken to the road and they are gradually replacing the bendy buses once again.
At the moment, you will be faced with a mix of red Routemasters and bendy buses when you are using public transport.
If you want to experience the old Routemasters, however, then there are still 2 heritage routes where you will be able to take a ride on the legendary old fashioned buses that were made famous in the 1950s!
