The East Village offers character and great shops in New York

Posted on 2nd March 2012 by

The East Village contains some of the great shops in New York. The area was once the center of New York's counterculture scene. The birthplace of both the Beatnik and punk rock scene, this neighborhood saw it's heyday for edgy artistic types in the late fifties through to the mid seventies.

Today, the East Village still maintains much of the artistic character that made it famous, as well as several wonderful shops, boutiques, and designer stores. Here you can find a large variety of shops, including Americana shops, designer hat stores, tattoo parlors, Jewelery shops, Bookstores, and clothing stores.

The diverse community that encompasses the East Village makes this place exciting to visit and along with all the great shopping prospects, there are also a large amount of cafes, restaurants, and bars in the neighborhood.

Kick back and relax after a long day of walking around some of the most celebrated shops in New York and enjoy the food and drinks that the city is known for as well.
