Posted on 1st April 2012 by

By far the most the most popular way to get around New York is on foot. This is a walking city. You’ll find that most of your trip will be spent walking around to various places and the scenes and atmosphere of New York make walking anywhere in the city a seriously enjoyable event – and it’s good for you!

There are many companies that offer walking tours of the city, or you can elect to map out the city on your own and embark on a self-guided tour of the city. A lot of New York’s main tourist destinations are fairly close to each other, and if you mix in the subway with you’re walking, you’ll find that the city is incredibly easy to navigate on foot.

Most residents don’t even own a car and their only way to get around New York is by foot, while utilising public transportation. So, the city is well designed with the pedestrian in mind.
